How does HOME WORKS! partner with a school?
HOME WORKS! provides all training, program materials, and a program director who supports each school with implementation of the Teacher Home Visit Program. HOME WORKS! and the school system share the cost of paying the teachers for the home visits. In addition, HOME WORKS! covers the cost of training and handbooks, Family Dinners, transportation to and from Family Dinners, Learning Bag items, site coordinator stipends, interpreters, and the external evaluation.
How can an interested school/district become part of the HOME WORKS! program?
Interested schools/districts should first become familiar with the program and check the criteria. Then the superintendent/head of school should contact Karen Kalish, the CEO, at firstname.lastname@example.org for an appointment. The next step is for Karen, or someone on the Leadership team, to talk to the entire faculty to present HOME WORKS! and answer questions. If at least 25% of the classroom teachers agree to visit at least 10% of the students-more is better-and if the school is willing to make a three-five year commitment, we’re in!
